The goal of Modern Control System Theory and Application is to bridge the gap existing between classical and modern control theory. My main objective in writing this volume has been to offer an easily understandable book .from the reader’s viewpoint. It is written in an integrated manner in order that one can proceed from the first to the last chapter clearly.
This book aims at an audience consisting of the senior undergraduate student, the first-year graduate student, and the practicing control-system engineer. The text, in its first edition, has been used at over one hundred colleges and universities. Its contents correspond to approximately three semester credit hours and are based on courses that I have taught at universities (New York Institute of Technology, The Cooper Union and the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn) and in industry (Sperry Rand Corporation).
